Case Study
Ash Island Lofts converted the loft in a mid-terrace property in W14, transforming it from a storage space to a habitable and luxury living space, adding multiple windows and spot lighting to encourage a spacious, bright and airy feel.
Due to the property altering from a two storey to a three storey building it needed to comply with ADB and building control regulations which state that three storey homes must have a protected escape route from the top storey through to a ground floor exit.
With the installation of a four-nozzle fixed system wall head specifically positioned to be able to target the entire bedroom including the stairs, a safe escape route is ensured from the loft space down to the second storey, where other fire suppression solutions are in place i.e fire doors.
As Automist is a retrofittable product the costs and disruption of install were minimal in comparison to that of a traditional fire sprinkler system. This meant that the budget was able to be focussed on the aesthetics of the conversion as opposed to the safety compliance.
With Blue Light installing the LABC Registered Automist Fixed Wall Head (EW171) the newly converted open-plan loft was signed off by building control.
